Personal Training for Women in Oakville
Private, one-to-one strength coaching for women across Oakville — in your own home, at your gym, or online. Built around your physiology, not a template.
Oakville has no shortage of gyms. What it has much less of is a trainer who writes programs specifically for a female body, and who can tell you why the plan you followed last year quietly stopped producing anything.
ASCEND is a private practice, not a floor. Every client is coached one-to-one by Alana Merriam, a certified personal trainer and the founder of the ASCEND Method. The roster is capped deliberately, because the programming is genuinely individual.
Where training happens
In your own home
Across Oakville and Burlington. If you already have a home gym we build around it; if you do not, Alana brings what the session needs. Ideal if your calendar is the constraint.
At your gym or condo gym
Where the building or facility permits outside trainers. Worth checking your own access first — it is one of the things the complimentary fit call sorts out.
Online, anywhere
The same programming, nutrition guidance and check-ins, delivered remotely — for clients outside the area or who prefer to train on their own schedule.
A program written for your body.
- Programs written for a female body — not a generic template with the weights lowered.
- Private training in your own home, or at your gym where access is permitted, anywhere in Oakville and Burlington.
- A coach who has trained through the same plateau you are describing, and can tell you exactly where it comes from.
- Application-based intake, so the roster stays small enough that your program is genuinely written for you.

Before you apply.
Where do you train clients in Oakville?
Three ways: in your own home, at your own gym or condo gym where the building permits an outside trainer, or online. ASCEND does not operate a studio of its own. In-home sessions cover Oakville and Burlington, including Glen Abbey, Bronte, Old Oakville, River Oaks, Joshua Creek, Aldershot and Millcroft. If you have equipment at home we will use it; if you do not, Alana brings what the program needs.
Do you only work with women?
Yes. Every program ASCEND writes is built for a female body, and the method itself is built around female physiology. That focus is the point — it is not a general training service with the weights lowered.
What does coaching cost?
Coaching is application-based and priced against the program you actually need, so rates are discussed on your consult rather than published. The roster is kept small deliberately. Digital guides are available immediately from CA$14.99 if you would rather start there.
What is cycle-based training, in plain terms?
Cycle-aware training considers your symptoms and training response alongside your cycle. Calendar dates do not determine what you can do. Research does not support one cycle-phase training schedule for everyone; your own experience and progress guide adjustments.
Is this just an excuse to train less?
No. Effort is redistributed, not reduced — you train harder than you probably do now in the weeks built for it. Alana has completed her first HYROX, which is not a format that tolerates a soft system.
What if my cycle is irregular, or I am on hormonal birth control?
Both are common and neither is a barrier. On hormonal contraception we build around your training data and lifestyle rhythm rather than a textbook 28-day cycle. Irregular cycles are mapped over the first couple of months so we are working from your pattern.
